The 7 most beautiful wonders in the world
There are undoubtedly some of the most amazing places on our planet, but the Seven Natural Wonders of the World have been declared to be the most impressive. These 7 most beautiful wonders of the world are found on five different continents and are magnificent in their natural beauty.
Victoria Falls
In southern Africa, the Zambezi flows on a flat plateau stretching for hundreds of kilometers in all directions. This is where we will find the largest waterfall in the world.
Victoria Falls is one of the wonders of the world, stretching 1.7 kilometers across and common to Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls form when the Zambezi river plunges over its entire width into a crack 108 meters high. During the rainy season, you can see the spray of the falls nearly 50 kilometers away, hence the local name of Mosi-oa-Tunya (Smoke that Thunder).
The falls fall into a deep and narrow chasm, which is connected to a long series of throats. This unique shape allows you to see the falls face to face 60 meters from the other side of the gorge.
Northern Lights
The northern lights (another of the natural wonders of the world) appear in the northern sky and are only visible from the northern hemisphere. These northern lights inadvertently appear from September to October and from March to April. The northern lights are named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas.
Often thought of as a greenish or sometimes pale red glow, the lights are made up of solar wind and particles that appear as “curtains” or streamers stretching in an east-west direction in the sky. Shaped by the Earth’s magnetic field, the lights are constantly changing and evolving. The Cree call this phenomenon the “Dance of the Spirits”.
Grand Canyon
Located in North America, the Grand Canyon extends 400 kilometers across the Colorado Plateau in northwestern Arizona. The canyon is 6 to 30 km wide and 1.6 km deep. Canyon is an erosion formed by water, ice and wind and is considered one of the 7 wonders of the world. The sedimentary rock layers were formed millions of years ago and provide significant insight into the geological time scale of the Earth.
Volcan Paricutin
In 1943, the Parîcutin volcano erupted in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. The first man to witness the eruption was an Indian farmer from Tarascan, named Dominic Pulido. Parîcutin is a monogenetic cone, that is to say that it comes from a single point of eruption. The volcano is now 410 meters above the ground. Its hardened lava covers 16 square kilometers and its volcanic sand covers 32 square kilometers. Named after a small Indian village in Tarascan, Parîcutin is today considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Port de Rio de Janeiro
The port of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is one of the 7 wonders of the world because it harbors many illusions. The port can be seen in so many ways that it appears differently and can be misleading. For example, mountains create an entrance to the bay and can give the impression that it is a lake. However, when Portuguese explorers arrived in 1502, they believed the bay to be a large river and called it Rio de Janeiro, the “January River”, in honor of the month of their arrival.
Mount Everest
On the edge of the Tibetan plateau stands one of the most impressive of the 7 wonders of the world, Mount Everest. Like the rest of the Himalayas, Everest rises from the bottom of the ancient sea of Tethys. It is considered the highest mountain in the world and continues to grow today at a rate of a few millimeters per year. Mount Everest and the Himalayas were traditionally revered by the local population as the homes of the gods and were considered sacred.
Great Barrier Reef
The last of the 7 most beautiful wonders in the world is the Great Barrier Reef. It is along the northeast coast of Queensland, Australia. The Great Barrier Reef extends over 2,600 kilometers. It is the largest coral reef ecosystem in the world, made up of 2,900 individual reefs. It is home to a variety of vulnerable and endangered species. The Great Barrier Reef covers an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometers. It is the only living organism in the visible world from space.
