When to visit Mayra Beach in the year?

The best time to visit Maya Beach is between November and April during the high season, when the sea is calm and access is easy. Stormy seas from May to October can impede access, but rarely refuse entry. So the bad news is that it is so beautiful and well known that many boats are required to transport all visitors from one boat to another.

The Beach by Alex Garland tells the story of young travelers who leave society to live in a hidden lagoon in the south of Thailand. Fox bought the rights to the book, hired Leonardo DiCaprio to star, and then searched for a location. Maya Beach was perfect. Fox decided that the perfect beach needed palm trees and less vegetation. By this very fact, they therefore redeveloped the beach so that it corresponded to a Hollywood stereotype.

Previously, environmentalists have said that removing vegetation will increase the risk of sand erosion and that the fragile natural ecosystem may never recover. The vegetation was replanted after the end of filming. Bamboo fences have been put in place to support the dunes.

The following year, during high tides and a strong storm, the dune collapsed, the sand sank on the beach and killed the coral in the sea. Thus, Fox went to great lengths to leave Maya Beach as they found it.

The debate continues on the question of whether the damage is due to the rearrangement or not, many say that the replanted vegetation has not yet “taken”. Filming began in 1999 and ‘The Beach’ was one of the most anticipated films of the year 2000. The film is cited by many tourists as an inspiration for their trip to Thailand.
